I always love the way Gandalf says, “So it begins, the great battle of our time.” He knows that this war wasn’t the first, nor will it be the last. Gandalf, in my opinion, is one of the wisest fictional characters ever created.

It took me until my third or fourth viewing of “The Fellowship of the Ring” to not despise Boromir—although he’s not one of my favorites even now, I do really appreciate him, and recognize that he’s a tragic character.

Forget Frodo…Sam is the true hero of the Lord of the Rings. It’s cliche, but cinematic Frodo was right when he said, “Frodo wouldn’t have gotten far without Sam.”
